tank tops

A sleeveless shirt, singlet or vest, also known as a tank top, is a shirt manufactured without sleeves, or one where the sleeves have been cut off. Sleeveless shirts can be worn by either gender, depending on the style. Tank tops are often worn by athletes in sports such as track and field and bicycling. Tank tops have been popular warm-weather casual wear in the United States since the 1970s[citation needed], and are regarded as acceptable public casual dress in most warm weather locales. They are mostly preferred in hot climates, since the arm holes provide ventilation and the thin fabric provides comfort.

In American English, a tank top is a sleeveless garment that can be worn by either sex. It is often worn under the shirt as underwear, although more colorful and well-designed tank tops are usually worn as an outer shirt. In Australian English the term singlet is usually used to refer to the garment, whilst in British English, the term vest is used, while tank top refers to a sleeveless pullover. The name tank top, recorded in English since 1968, is derived from its resemblance to a tank suit, a style of one-piece women's swimsuit with shoulder straps. Its name derives from the 1920s term swimming tank, which is an obsolete term for what is now called a swimming pool. The tankini – a portmanteau of the words tank top and bikini – is a women's swimming version of the tank top.

Ways to Accessorize a Tank Top

  • Layer one color on top of another color for another. The tank tops could be the same cut or completely different.
  • Wear a brightly colored bra beneath a black or white tank top and be sure to allow the straps to show instead of trying to hide them.
  • Wear a funky bracelet. Do you own a charm bracelet or perhaps a series of bangles? It might be all you need.
  • Combine a pair of patterned summer pants in the same color family as the tank. Suddenly you have a designer look.
  • Pair the tank with a classic pair of shorts. That means no cut-offs. We are going for a more formal "old money" look.
  • Socks to match the tank shirt... actually you could go as wild as you please with your socks.
  • How about semi formal jewelry that would take the look from carefree to country club statis.
  • My last suggestion is a brand new hairstyle. Nothing can beat a makeover of any sort like a new style!
  • Embroider something that is completely YOU on your tank top. That leaves lots of options. All you have to do is learn a few embroidery stitches.
  • Wear a long or short sleeve blouse over the t-shirt. Summery white blouses are a great solution to a ho-hum tank top that has become boring.

why tube tops?

A tube top is a woman's clothing item that is a type of top, or shirt, without sleeves or straps. Thus, when one wears a tube top, the shoulders are left completely bare. A tube top takes the form of an elongated ring or band of material. Imagine a close-fitting tank top with the straps cut off, and you’ve got a crude tube top. The material of the tube top wraps around the chest and, depending on the length of the top, may leave the midriff exposed, or covers the belly.

A tube top (British: boob tube) is a shoulderless, sleeveless "tube" that wraps the torso. Such a top is generally very tight over the breasts in order to prevent the garment from falling. This is usually achieved with elastic bands at the top and bottom of the garment.

A similar version is one model of the halter top, which is a tube top that uses a single strap that passes round the back of the neck and has both ends attached to the front of the tube.
The garment was invented by American World War II veteran Murray Kleid, owner of S & M Fringing Inc. (named for Sol Makowsky & Murray Kleid). At the time, it was the largest women's accessories manufacturer throughout New York City's garment district.
The first tube top was actually a "mistake", but Mr. Kleid realized this garment's potential. According to sources, "samples" of the tube top were immediately being dispersed to local distributors. Its positive reaction had them on shelves worldwide within a month or two after that. The tube top revolution had begun.

The garment district of Manhattan was possibly the largest of areas in New York City overrun with organized crime. Mr. Kleid had a long history in the garment district, and according to several sources, he used the strength he obtained in the garment district to keep any competition at bay, so for this, S & M Fringing, Inc. (which was located at 50th West 17th Street) was the sole manufacturer of tube tops for many decades.

It reached its highest level of popularity in the late 1970s. It vanished from the scene during the early- and mid-1990s, but later made a major reappearance in the wardrobes of American teenage girls and young American women, especially college-age women, after 2000, and various versions of the style have been popular ever since then.

cardigan

A cardigan is a type of machine- or hand-knitted sweater (or jumper) that ties, buttons or zips down the front; by contrast, a pullover does not open in front but must be "pulled over" the head to be worn. The cardigan was named after James Brudenell, 7th Earl of Cardigan, a British military commander, following his service in the Crimean War.[1] Cardigans are available for both sexes, but they have become popular for men in recent years due to rise of fashion houses incorporating the traditional garment in men's fashion runway. Plain cardigans are often worn over shirts and inside suit jackets as a kind of less formal waistcoat or vest that restrains the necktie when the jacket has been removed. Its versatility means it can be worn either in casual or formal settings and in any seasons, but popularly during the autumn and winter months.
A cardigan is a sweater that opens in the front and attaches with either buttons, hooks, or a zipper. Cardigan sweaters are thought to have originated in 17th century France and the British Isles, where fishermen wore heavy, hand-knitted woolen sweaters. Fondly known as fishermen's sweaters, the industry of knitting the heavy sweaters soon became popular on the coast of Ireland. Fishermen and outdoor workers sought out the expensive cardigans that kept them warm during the harsh North Atlantic winters.

Today the same cardigan sweaters are produced in Ireland and although they are still worn for warmth, they have become a fashion statement for casual wear. Yet cardigans are not limited to this heavy, woolen style; cardigan sweaters can be made of nearly any fabric, with styles for both women and men. Styles include fabrics such as wool, cotton, polyester, rayon, cashmere, Lycra and many more.

..

ok... fashion is fashion... but you don't have to be in it or follow it's newest trend... don't have to be conscious, be confident enough of what you are wearing at the moment because people around you don't really have to care because you cannot or don't have to please them all the time... what matters most is you did know how to carry or have enough confidence wearing stuff you're comfortable with....

which is better?

what do you think is better? heels or flats? do I really have to wear heels just because I'm short? because for me it doesn't matter and I don't care whether I'm short or not because I prefer wearing flats instead of heels... but they say it depends on the occasion wherein sometimes I really have to wear something with heels, and I think it's true... but really it doesn't matter whether I'm wearing flats or something with heels in any occasion, it's how you carry it, right?! don't worry, I will be wearing one with heels soon... you'll see... :D
